Wastewater Collection System Project

Casale Construction Services, Inc. of Wynantskill was the low bidder and the contract has been awarded to Casale. Construction will begin in mid-March with completion expected in October, 2014. The Village of Kinderhook will post bi-weekly updates on the village website to provide information on the anticipated construction areas for those two weeks.  On March 19, Casale Construction began work, starting behind 8 Chatham Street and working toward 5 Hudson Avenue.  In addition, on Friday March 21, Casale plans to begin directional drilling along Route 9.

Weekly Update – Week of March 24 – March 28
-Drilling of the 4” force main on Route 9. 
-Installation of the 8” gravity main in the Post Office parking lot, crossing of Hudson Street and into the former Treasure Shop parking lot.
- Removal of a dying 48” oak tree behind 10 Hudson Street.  

Weekly Update – Week of March 31 – April 4

- Drilling of the 4” Force main on Route 9 between the Firehouse & Stewarts.

-Digging for the 8” gravity main in the former Treasurer Shop parking lot and behind the houses from No 10 Hudson Street to the Kinderhook Memorial Library. This work will be done on St. Paul’s Episcopal Church property.

-Casale will be excavating behind the Village Hall, from 8 Chatham Street to the Kinderhook Bank lawn.

Weekly Update April 7 – April 11

-Complete directional drilling of the 4” force main at the firehouse. Begin drilling of the 8” force main from the firehouse toward the B1 Business District.

-Digging for the 8” force main on Albany Avenue at the Anderson Agency parking lot and at the Columbia County Historical Society driveway.

Weekly Update April 14 to April 18 

-Drilling of the 8” force main on Route 9 from the firehouse toward the B1 Business District. 

-Digging for the 8” gravity main across Albany Avenue, behind the Columbia County Historical Society Museum to the back of 12 Broad Street. 

-Pave the crossings and shoulder on Albany Avenue.

Weekly Update April 21 to April 25 

Directional drilling along Route 9 from the firehouse toward the B1 Business District.  This will include digging to expose the water main and house services at some locations.  Digging for the 8” force main at 8 Chatham Street.  Also manholes will be installed at 9 Chatham Street and at the firehouse.  In addition, the sewer pump station structure will be installed at the firehouse.

Weekly Update April 28 to May 2

Directional drilling along Route 9 for the 8” gravity flow main from the firehouse toward the business district.  Install a manhole at 27 Chatham Street.  Do general clean up.

Weekly Update May 5 to May 9

Directional drilling along Route 9 for the 8” gravity flow main from the firehouse toward the business district.  Install a manhole at 27 Chatham Street

Weekly Update May 12 to May 16

Directional drilling along Route 9 for the 8” gravity flow main from the firehouse toward the business district.  Install a manhole at 27 Chatham Street

Weekly Update May 19 – May 23

Directional drilling for the 8” gravity flow main from the former gas station property (opposite the William Street intersection) toward the B-1 Business District.

Weekly Update May 27 – May 30

Placement of manhole at 15 Chatham Street.  Directional drilling for the 8” gravity flow main between 15 Chatham Street and 9 Chatham Street.

Weekly Update June 2 – June 6

Directional drilling for the 8” HDPE gravity flow main from the manhole at 9 Chatham St to the manhole at 15 Chatham St.

Weekly Update June 10 – June 13

Drill 8” HDPE gravity flow sewer main behind No. 1 Chatham Street to No. 9 Chatham Street.  Place manhole at No. 15 Chatham Street.

Weekly Update June 16 – June 20

Complete connection of 8” HDPE gravity flow sewer main behind No. 1 Chatham Street to 9 Chatham Street.  Install manhole at No. 8 Chatham Street.  Connect sewer main to pump station man hole at firehouse.

Weekly Update June 25-June 27

Preparation for sidewalk installation at various locations and install sidewalks.  Place topsoil.  Topsoil and clean up along Route 9.

Weekly Update July 7-July 11

Installing grinder pumps at 5 Hudson Street and behind bandstand.  Working on pump station at the firehouse.  Installing cleanouts on the force main between the firehouse and Stewarts.  Adjusting the 8” HDPE gravity main grades.  Tie the new 4” force main into the force main installed in the Sidewalk Link Project.

Digging test pits in the vicinity of 27 & 31 Chatham Street in preparation for adjusting the sewer line alignment.  Working at the Pump Station by the Firehouse to provide electrical service, pour a concrete sump and top soil and seed.
